Now that you have the gazebo you’ve always dreamed about, you’ll be happy to see how easy it is to keep it looking its best for years to come. You will have taken the first step, by purchasing the highest-quality gazebo available, from GazeboCreations.com. Although our gazebos have been built to last indefinitely, there is no way to stop the elements (or people) from leaving their marks on it. However, by following our simple maintenance instructions, you can greatly control the degree to which they do.

Our Cedar Gazebos are made with 100% top-grade Western Red Cedar, a durable, superior-quality wood, which possesses natural oils that give it an innate resistance to insects and decay. You can preserve the radiance of the wood, and protect it from the effects of the weather, by applying a water-repellent sealer to your gazebo, including the floor and the cedar shake shingles. We use Cabot 3000 stain and sealer, because the Cabot line of products are richly pigmented, deep penetrating linseed oil-based stains, that provide long lasting beauty and wood protection.

|
| |
|
If you wish to maintain the natural color of the cedar, you may apply the sealer as soon as your gazebo is assembled. For a more rustic look, you can wait until it has weathered to a desirable degree, then use a water-repellent clear sealer, that is recommended for use on cedar. Applications should be made every 2 - 4 years. Since these treatments are available under several brand names, you should ask a local lumber dealer to recommend the right one for your gazebo.

Our Pressure-Treated Pine Gazebos are constructed of top-grade, Southern Yellow Pine, which is kiln-dried before and after treatment, to help to prevent decay and insect damage. To maintain the beauty of the wood, and to minimize warping, cracking, and splitting, we recommend that you also apply a water-repellent sealer to your gazebo, including the floor and the cedar shake shingles. You may also use a tinted sealer on your newly-assembled gazebo. You can stain/seal your gazebo right away to preserve it’s original appearance, or wait until it has weathered naturally to a point that suits you, then use a water-repellent clear sealer, to keep the rustic gray color. Re-apply the sealer every two to four years, according to the recommendations of the manufacturer. These treatments are available under several brand names, so ask a local lumber dealer to recommend the right one for your gazebo.

|
If you want to paint your Pressure-Treated Pine Gazebo, two coats of acrylic latex exterior paint should yield optimum results. Be sure to read the label on whichever brand you choose, as manufacturers’ recommendations may vary, and remember that cold or damp weather and humidity may also affect drying times. You can also use a solid color stain. We advise you not to paint the floor of your gazebo, as this may make it dangerously slippery.

You can clean your Pressure-Treated Pine Gazebo with the same products that you use on your porch or deck. A power washer can damage the wood, so please be cautious if you decide to use one.

Our Vinyl gazebos are made with pressure-treated pine that has been covered with an attractive vinyl coating, which results in a beautiful, exceptionally durable finish. Aside from an occasional cleaning with soap and water, or a mild cleanser, these gazebos are maintenance-free.

Our Wrought Iron Gazebos are baked on powder coated wrought iron. To keep wrought iron looking new, we suggest a polyurethane spray annually.
You may also clean wrought iron with soap and water.

The Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau (CSSB) recommends using a product with a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) that lists its ingredients and safety precautions. It should specify it as a topical treatment for cedar roofs, contains a water-repellent, UV inhibitor, and/or an EPA-registered wood preservative, and has a manufacturer’s performance guarantee.
Unless it’s done professionally, power washing can cause considerable damage to your cedar shake roof, so great care should be used if power washing cedar shingles

Apply the care instructions for Cedar and Pressure-Treated Pine Gazebos to screen frames of the same types of wood.
Aluminum screen frames may be cleaned with soap and water.
To clean the screens themselves, remove them from the gazebo, then use a mild detergent, a soft-bristle brush, and a garden hose with low water pressure. When repainting, staining or sealing your gazebo, it is best to remove the screens. Over spray or paint/stain droplets are hard to remove from screening if allowed to dry.
