Stainable
If you want the look of natural cedar, simply use an exterior stain/sealer that has UV protection. Since semi-transparent stains vary in appearance on different woods, you may want to consult a professional, or test the stain on an inconspicuous part of your shed first. We do not recommend the use of paint.

If you have purchased a shed with pine siding, you should apply at least one coat of stain or sealer to it. You can paint it, if you wish, as long as you use a quality primer first, followed by two coats of exterior latex paint. This should keep your shed protected and looking great for at least ten years. If you want the look of natural pine, simply use an exterior stain/sealer that has UV protection. Best Choice for Paint
Since it is designed to resist moisture, Dura-Temp siding will not absorb stain. It will, however, accept paint quite easily, and wear it well, as long as you prime it before applying two coats of exterior latex paint.
