Our cedar gazebo floors are 100% western red cedar, including the band boards (band boards are the trim on the outside of the base). The joists are treated pine lumber. We use treated pine joists on the base to maintain the floor strength. Western red cedar is chemical-free; its natural oils provide it with a unique resistance to wood decay and insect damage, making it a material of choice for projects in which strength and durability are as important as style and beauty. Cedar can be sealed and stained to maintain its reddish appearance, or allowed to weather to its natural rich, gray color with age. Western red cedar is the flooring of choice for your gazebo; it is strong enough to support a hot tub, tough enough to withstand nature’s toughest elements, and attractive enough to satisfy the most discriminating tastes.
