If you prefer a plain, straight look, the top railings can be removed. The braces will attach directly to the roof plate, instead of the top railing section. No top railing option cannot be selected if you have removed all of the bottom railings as well. Keeping either the top or bottom railing section to assist in wind load and lateral strength. If you don't want the spindles on the top railings, talk to your Project Advisor about replacing them with a double 2x8 solid top section.
If you absolutely cannot have either the top or bottom railings, engineering may be required to determine the best way to accomplish this in your area, so that you gazebo remains a safe haven for decades to come.
