On our Rough Cut Ramadas our beams are heavy duty 6x12’s. They are designed to do all the heavy support required to ensure decades of use. Beams can have a clear span up to 16' so that a Ramada with a listed size of 16’ or less requires 4 posts (in each corner). Ramadas with a size listed over 18' will require an additional post to support the center of the beam. Corner braces add style, but more importantly, add lateral strength to the entire structure.

In some situations, it may be possible to span greater distances with a glu-laminated beam and fewer posts. Be sure to speak with a Project Advisor if you would prefer this option.
