Off to See the Wizard – for a Gazebo!

by Kathy Moran
Every so often, there’s a year in which the warm weather holds on firmly well into October, while the trees hold on firmly to their green leaves. While there was a time when such a scenario could fool us into believing that it was still August, the abundance of increasingly popular fall decorations, found on front doors, houses, yards, fences, trees, lampposts, garages, and gazebos, undeniably puts the nails into summer’s coffin.

Speaking of coffins, you may even see some of those in people’s yards at this time of the year. Of course, they’ll be fake (I hope!), or, at least, occupied only by dummies dressed as vampires (I really hope!!). That’s because Halloween, which used to be one simple day of dressing in costumes and going trick-or-treating – for kids – is now treated like a major holiday by millions of adults. Furthermore, it has also been extended so long that it’s become almost a “season” of its own, like Christmas, with decorations and parties that are just as ostentatious.

Indeed, there is an awesome amount of revelry that takes place during the month of October. Some of the parties are elaborately planned affairs, with themes, props, party favors, eerie decorations, costume contests, games, and decadent amounts of food and drink. Others are thrown together quickly by those who just want to dress up and party.

As much as people love throwing parties, however, the thought of all of the cleaning up they’ll have to do afterwards often gives them pause (and, if they happen to be werewolves, a full moon will give them paws. I know. Sorry!). Moreover, they may not want a lot of people on the loose in their homes, especially when some guests are friends of their friends (friends-in-law?), with whom they are only casually acquainted. To avoid this situation, many people have their celebrations outside.

This is not always the best solution, either, because, even when the warm weather extends itself, it rarely lasts until the end of October, so it’s often raining, snowing, or just plain too cold for an outdoor party. Therefore, it’s no surprise that a growing number of people are throwing their parties in their gazebos, which is an excellent idea for many reasons.

To begin with, if you have a gazebo, you’re probably going to decorate it for fall anyway, and it’s quite likely that pumpkins will be a part of the display. Have your Halloween bash in it, and you can have tons more fun getting into the spirit (actually, that’s more pun) by hanging up ghosts, fake spiders and webs, and orange lanterns, and putting scarecrows, Indian corn, bales of hay, homemade monsters, and jack-o-lanterns around the outside.

If you have an enclosed gazebo, you won’t have to worry about the weather at all; but even an open gazebo can work, with heaters placed as needed, or, better yet, a bonfire nearby (but not too nearby, of course). If you don’t have a gazebo, you can easily get one, and have it up and decorated before Halloween. If that doesn’t sound possible, just go to GazeboCreations.com, and the Wizard will show you how easy it is.

At GazeboCreations.com, the Gazebo Wizard will help you to customize a gazebo in a few simple steps. First, he will offer you a selection of sizes, shapes, and materials from which to choose. Then, he’ll present you with a tantalizing menu of options, including insulation, storm windows, flooring, roofing, decorative railings, wiring, built-in benches, ceiling fans, cupolas, and more. He’ll let you design as many as you wish, save them to your personal gallery, and change them instantly any time you want. Indeed, he is a whiz of a wiz, if ever a wiz there was (just hadda say it!).
